Do all models produce the same quality coffee?
Yes! Moccamaster brewers include different colors, styles and volumes, but all produce to a Gold Cup Standard (ECBC/SCA).

What are the differences between Moccamaster brewer models?

Coffee bean quality, grind, fresh water quality and formula are all factors in brewing the gold cup, but ultimately, it’s the brewing process that plays the all-important final role!
Does Coffee Grind size make a difference?
What about water?
If it tastes good to drink, it’ll make good coffee. If you wouldn’t drink it, then don’t brew with it! We recommend fresh tap water if it tastes good, otherwise filtered or bottled water is fine too. We do not recommend the use of reverse osmosis filtered water or distilled water.
What does Moccamaster formula recommend?
What is Coffee Bloom?
Moccamaster brewers are scientifically designed to brew with an ultra-precise, pre-immersion drip-style system, which creates a natural pulse action process. As water, heated to the proper temperature, contacts the coffee grounds, a gas is released, causing the “coffee bloom”, which is the flavor being released from the coffee grounds. The pulse action can easily be viewed through the clear water reservoir and glass transfer tube. While the coffee bloom can be witnessed when peaking under the brew-basket lid near the beginning of the brew process, we don’t recommend removing the brew-basket lid as it will release heat, and could potential cause a burn, compromising your safety.
Is there a difference in filters?
Moccamaster oxygen whitened filters are the perfect choice for clean, crisp, unflavored coffee. Brown unbleached filters may leave a “cardboard” taste in your coffee, and permanent wire-mesh type filters can clog with coffee oils quickly, overflowing the brew-basket and/or steeping the coffee too long, potentially resulting in over extracted bitter tasting coffee.
Why is there water remaining in my brewer once the brew cycle is complete?
Why descale and clean? What is the recommended timetable?
Moccamaster brewers should last a lifetime, when cleaned and descaled properly! As with all coffee brewers, your Moccamaster should be descaled (removal of calcium/lime deposits-buildup) and cleaned (removing water residue/coffee oils) in order to maintain proper performance and great tasting coffee.
Why are there so many parts?
Removable parts are essential for long-term maintenance and replacement.
